An APGA Interactive Forum reporter at the venue informed This Forum that the state chairman of APGA chief Noberth Obi will slug it out with the UPP party chairman Mr Sylvester Igwilo. Incidentally, Mr Igwilo and Norbert Obi are both from same town, Uzubulu, Ekwusigo LGA.
Because of the 2017 guber election and the need to control the IPAC structure which is the body that relates to INEC on behalf of the parties in an election, Agu Awka has moved in to hijack the election and impose Norbert Obi as its chairman. To achieve this, Gov Obiano's Political Adviser, Chinedu Obidigwe is coordinating the operation and has moved in large sum of money into the venue to bbuye the delegates. As at last night, delegates were priced 500,000 naira each to vote for Norbert Obi.
One of the party chairmen who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity stated that Agu Awka is moving cash around trying to buy them over but said, most of his colleagues rejected it. When asked how much Sylvester Igwilo was paying each candidate, he stated that Igwilo has no money to share, "those backing him are doing so for political interest".
Meanwhile, the monitoring team from Abuja who are in the state to monitor the exercise are said to have been bribed with the sum of 20 million naira. Reacting to this allegation, a delegate who is already seated at the venue said, "we will resist any rigging, I am here now. No manipulation will be tolerated".
When This Forum asked to know which candidate between Norbert Obi and Igwilo has the backing of the majority of the delegates and may emerge victorious at the end of the day, he declined comment but only said, "the best will win".
We will keep u updated at the end of the election.
