A pregnant 12-year-old girl who was rescued from her 40-year-old "husband" had been trafficked into China from her homeland in Vietnam, it has been revealed.
The girl was forced to marry a Chinese man and was four months pregnant when he took her to a hospital .
The "husband" - identified only by the surname Liu - claimed she was aged 20 but was unable to fool doctors, who tipped off local police .
According to Daily Mirror,Chinese officials are now working closely with their colleagues in Vietnam to try and find the child trafficking victim's family after she revealed she was from the capital of Hanoi.The girl has given investigators the names of her family members.
She is being cared for at a hospital in Xuzhou City, in China's eastern Jiangsu Province, and her 35-year-old "husband" - who was initially said to be aged 40 - and "mother-in-law" have been arrested.
